Silas Moore, 37, admitted to his role in the May robbery of M&T Bank in Dunkirk that resulted in a high-speed pursuit with deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators say that on Monday, May 1, Moore walked into the bank and handed one of the tellers a note demanding cash while brandishing a handgun.
He fled with $1,000, along with three others, prompting the short-lived police pursuit in a brown Kia.
After they sped away from the bank, investigators tracked a vehicle matching its description near the intersection of Route 4 and Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick, though the driver ignored detectives’ attempt to conduct a traffic stop and continued through a red light, causing several crashes.
The pursuit then took detectives onto Route 2 near the area of Route 260 in Owings, when the fleeing suspect crashed, leaving the Kia disabled and ending the pursuit.
Officials said that the driver of the second vehicle had to be airlifted to an area trauma center in critical condition, but she was released the following day and recovered at home.
On Monday, the sheriff's office announced that Moore pleaded guilty in Calvert County to:
- Armed robbery;
- Use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence;
- Unlawful possession of a regulated firearm.
When he is sentenced next week, Moore will face up to 40 years in prison. Last month, Denise Blacknell, an accomplice, received a sentence of 23 years in prison with all but eight suspended.
